Description
Crispy bacon-crusted mozzarella sticks with a golden coating and gooey melted cheese center. Perfect appetizer for parties, game nights, and family gatherings.
Ingredients
8–10 mozzarella cheese sticks
4–6 slices of bacon
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
Pinch of salt
Optional: 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
Optional: 1 tsp paprika
Optional: 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
1. Unwrap mozzarella cheese and cut into sticks about 1/2 inch thick and 3-4 inches long
2. Grind 4-6 slices of bacon into fine crumbs using a food processor
3. Mix ground bacon with panko breadcrumbs and a pinch of salt
4. Set up coating stations: flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, bacon-breadcrumb mixture in third
5. Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, then egg, then bacon-breadcrumb mixture
6. For baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), place on parchment-lined baking sheet, bake 12-15 minutes until golden
7. For frying: Heat 2-3 inches oil to 350°F (175°C), fry 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown
8. Serve immediately with marinara sauce or garlic aioli
Notes
For best results, use whole milk mozzarella sticks
Wrap bacon tightly around cheese to prevent separation
Can be prepared one day in advance and refrigerated
