Description
Sweet, smoky, and wildly unexpected—this bacon-wrapped watermelon is the ultimate summer appetizer.
Ingredients
2 cups watermelon, cut into 1.5-inch cubes
8 slices thick-cut bacon
Toothpicks or skewers
1 tsp chili powder (optional)
1 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional)
Fresh mint or feta for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat grill or oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Cut watermelon into sturdy cubes and pat dry with paper towels.
3. Wrap each watermelon cube with a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
4. (Optional) Brush with maple syrup and sprinkle with chili powder.
5. Grill or bake for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway, until bacon is crispy.
6. Remove from heat and garnish with mint or crumbled feta if desired.
7. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
Notes
Use thick-cut bacon for best results.
Pre-cook bacon halfway for extra crispiness.
Avoid overcooking watermelon—it should stay juicy but warm.
Pairs well with yogurt dipping sauce or sriracha-lime glaze.
