Description

Beer-Battered Bratwurst Burger with Mustard Drizzle combines traditional German bratwurst with crispy beer batter and tangy mustard sauce. Crafted for discerning home chefs seeking restaurant-quality weekend grilling results.

Ingredients

Scale

4 bratwurst sausages

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup beer (chilled, lager or pilsner preferred)

Vegetable oil for frying

4 burger buns

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon mayonnaise

Lettuce leaves

Sliced tomatoes

Caramelized onions

Pickles

Instructions

1. Prepare mustard drizzle by mixing Dijon mustard, honey, and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Set aside.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

3. Gradually add chilled beer to dry ingredients, stirring until smooth and lump-free batter forms.

4. Heat oil to 350°F in deep fryer or large heavy pot.

5. Dip each bratwurst into beer batter, ensuring complete coating.

6. Carefully place battered bratwurst in hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

7. Remove and drain on paper towels.

8. Toast burger buns lightly.

9. Assemble burgers: spread mustard drizzle on bottom bun, add lettuce, beer-battered bratwurst, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and top bun.

10. Serve immediately while batter is still crispy.

Notes

For best results, ensure bratwurst is completely dry before battering to help coating adhere properly.

Don’t overcrowd the fryer – cook bratwurst in batches if necessary.

Serve immediately to maintain crispiness of the beer batter.

Pair with German potato salad or sauerkraut for authentic flavor experience.
