Ingredients
2 cups water
2 tablespoons loose black tea or 2 tea bags
1 cinnamon stick
4 cardamom pods, crushed
4 cloves
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (to taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
2. Add the tea, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and ginger.
3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
4. Strain the mixture into another saucepan.
5. Add milk and sweetener, and heat until warm.
6. Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of nutmeg.
7. Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Notes
For a vegan version, use almond or oat milk. Adjust sweetness according to your preference. This recipe can be doubled for a cozy gathering.
