Description

This Classic American Breakfast Burrito is packed with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, golden hash browns, and melty cheese, all wrapped in a warm, soft tortilla. Perfect for a grab-and-go breakfast or a leisurely weekend brunch, this recipe is customizable to suit any taste preference.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 6 eggs, whisked
  • 4 slices of bacon (or 1 cup cooked sausage)
  • 1 cup hash browns, cooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • ½ cup salsa
  • ¼ cup diced onions (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil for cooking

Optional toppings: sour cream, guacamole, or hot sauce.

Instructions

  • Cook the Protein: In a skillet, cook bacon until crispy or brown sausage until fully cooked. Set aside.
  • Prepare Hash Browns: Cook the hash browns until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  • Scramble the Eggs: Whisk eggs with salt and pepper. Heat butter or oil in a pan and scramble the eggs until fluffy.
  • Warm the Tortillas: Heat tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave to make them pliable.
  • Assemble the Burritos: Lay each tortilla flat. Layer eggs, hash browns, bacon/sausage, cheese, and salsa in the center.
  • Wrap the Burrito: Fold in the sides, then roll tightly from the bottom up to enclose the filling.
  • Toast the Burrito (Optional): Heat the assembled burritos in a skillet for a crispy, golden finish.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute bacon or sausage with black beans or sautéed veggies.
  • To make ahead, wrap the burritos tightly in foil and store in the refrigerator or freezer. Reheat as needed.
  • Customize the spice level by adding jalapeños, hot sauce, or pepper jack cheese.
