Description
Crispy deep fried pizza sticks filled with gooey mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Perfect party appetizer ready in 15 minutes with restaurant-quality taste at home.
Ingredients
12 large egg roll wrappers
12 pieces of string cheese (at room temperature)
36 slices of pepperoni
Peanut oil or high-temperature frying oil
Fresh pizza sauce for dipping
Optional: Fresh basil or dried oregano
Optional: Crushed red pepper flakes
Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: Minced garlic
Instructions
1. Lay egg roll wrappers on a clean, flat surface and keep covered with damp towel
2. Place 3 pepperoni slices diagonally on each wrapper
3. Add one mozzarella cheese stick on top of pepperoni
4. Fold wrapper corners over cheese and roll tightly to seal
5. Moisten corners with water to ensure tight seal
6. Heat oil to 350°F in deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot using cooking thermometer
7. Carefully drop rolls into hot oil using long-handled tongs
8. Fry until golden brown, approximately 3-4 minutes
9. Remove and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil
10. Serve immediately with warm marinara dipping sauce
Notes
For best results, let string cheese come to room temperature before assembling
Freezing assembled sticks for 10-15 minutes before frying helps prevent cheese leakage
Don’t overcrowd the fryer – work in batches for even cooking
Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in air fryer to maintain crispiness
