Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 cups cooked jasmine rice
2 green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 cup julienned carrots
1 cucumber, sliced
Kimchi for serving (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat
2. Add ground beef and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks (about 5-6 minutes)
3. Drain excess grease from the skillet
4. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef, cook for 30 seconds until fragrant
5. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes
6. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and stir to combine
7. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the beef
8. Remove from heat and let cool slightly
9. Divide cooked rice between 4 bowls
10. Top each bowl with the Korean seasoned ground beef
11. Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, julienned carrots, and cucumber slices
12. Serve immediately with kimchi on the side if desired
