Ingredients
8 slices thick-cut sourdough bread
4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, grated
2 oz smoked applewood cheese, grated
2 oz mozzarella cheese, grated
6 slices thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
4 tablespoons high-quality butter
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dijon mustard (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat skillet or air fryer to medium heat (370°F for air fryer)
2. Cook bacon until crispy, brush with maple syrup in last 2 minutes
3. Grate all cheeses and mix together in a bowl
4. Butter one side of each bread slice generously
5. Layer cheese mixture and maple bacon between bread slices, buttered sides out
6. Cook in skillet 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese melts
7. For air fryer: cook 3-4 minutes, flip halfway through
8. Let cool 2 minutes before cutting and serving
Notes
For best results, use room temperature cheese for even melting
Cook on medium-low heat to prevent burning while cheese melts
