Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup fine breadcrumbs
1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1/2 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
For the glaze:
1/2 cup Heinz ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, beaten eggs, breadcrumbs, diced onion, minced garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
3. Gently mix ingredients with clean hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to prevent tough texture.
4. Shape mixture into a loaf approximately 9×5 inches on prepared baking sheet.
5. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar for glaze.
6. Brush half of glaze over shaped meatloaf.
7. Bake for 45 minutes, then brush with remaining glaze.
8. Continue baking 15-30 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
9. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute.
10. Slice with sharp knife and serve warm.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer for accuracy – 160°F internal temperature ensures food safety.
For extra moisture, add 1/4 cup grated onion to the mixture.
Leftover meatloaf keeps in refrigerator 3-4 days and freezes up to 3 months.
For individual servings, divide mixture into muffin tin and reduce cooking time to 25-30 minutes.
