Description

This Oktoberfest Maple Mustard Chicken Burger combines traditional German festival flavors with modern gourmet burger craft. Crafted for discerning home chefs seeking restaurant-quality results with authentic Oktoberfest celebration spirit in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound ground chicken

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon paprika

4 slices Swiss cheese

1 cup sauerkraut, drained

1 cup crispy fried onions

4 pretzel buns or hamburger buns, toasted

Optional: additional maple syrup and Dijon mustard for serving

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, salt, black pepper, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix gently with hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and gently form into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Create a small dimple in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.

3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F). Clean grill grates thoroughly and brush with oil to prevent sticking.

4. Place patties on the preheated grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Do not press down on patties with spatula, as this releases juices.

5. During the last minute of cooking, place Swiss cheese slices on each patty to melt. Toast buns on the grill cut-side down for 1-2 minutes until golden.

6. Assemble burgers: Place patty with melted cheese on bottom bun, top with generous portion of sauerkraut, then crispy fried onions. Add top bun and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use fresh ground chicken and avoid over-mixing to keep burgers tender and juicy.

The maple syrup creates a subtle caramelization on the grill – watch carefully to prevent burning.

For authentic Oktoberfest experience, serve on toasted pretzel buns with German beer or apple cider.

Sauerkraut should be well-drained to prevent soggy buns. Pat dry with paper towels if necessary.

Crispy fried onions can be store-bought or homemade for extra freshness.
