Description
Sweet and salty smoky bacon candy chips with caramelized brown sugar coating. This irresistible treat transforms ordinary bacon into extraordinary confection perfection with a crispy-chewy texture that’s absolutely addictive.
Ingredients
1 pound thick-cut bacon
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Heavy-duty aluminum foil
Wire cooling rack
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil and place a wire cooling rack on top.
2. In a shallow mixing bowl, combine dark brown sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
3. Cut bacon strips in half crosswise for easier handling and more uniform pieces.
4. Dredge each bacon piece through the spice-sugar mixture, pressing gently to ensure coating adheres to both sides.
5. Arrange coated bacon pieces on the wire rack, ensuring they don’t overlap or touch.
6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking frequently during the last 5 minutes to prevent burning.
7. Remove when bacon reaches crispy texture and sugar coating is caramelized and glossy.
8. Cool completely on the rack for 5-10 minutes to allow coating to harden and achieve perfect crunch.
Notes
Use thick-cut bacon for best texture and coating adhesion.
Dark brown sugar works better than light brown sugar for richer flavor and better caramelization.
Monitor closely during final minutes as sugar can burn quickly.
Allow to cool completely for optimal crispy texture.
Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Can be made ahead and stored for parties or meal prep.
