Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
2 tsp taco seasoning
4 burger buns, toasted
2 cups Spicy Nacho Doritos, crushed
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
1/4 cup heavy cream
4 lettuce leaves, fresh
2 large tomatoes, sliced
1/2 red onion, sliced
2–3 jalapeños, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp paprika
Optional: 4 slices bacon
Optional: caramelized onions
Instructions
1. Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat while preparing ingredients.
2. Shape ground beef into 4 patties, being careful not to overwork the meat to keep it tender.
3. Season both sides of patties with salt, pepper, paprika, and taco seasoning.
4. Grill patties for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, then let rest for 2-3 minutes.
5. While patties rest, create queso lava drip by melting cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses in saucepan over low heat.
6. Stir cheeses constantly while adding cream gradually until smooth and creamy consistency is achieved.
7. Remove queso from heat and set aside, keeping warm.
8. Toast burger buns lightly on grill or in toaster.
9. Spread queso lava drip generously on bottom bun.
10. Place grilled patty on top of queso-covered bun.
11. Sprinkle crushed Spicy Nacho Doritos over patty for crunch.
12. Layer with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, and diced jalapeños.
13. Add optional toppings like bacon or caramelized onions if desired.
14. Crown with top bun and serve immediately while queso is still warm and melty.
Notes
For best results, use 80/20 ground beef for juiciness and flavor.
Crush Doritos just before assembly to maintain maximum crunchiness.
Keep queso lava drip warm by placing saucepan in larger pan of warm water.
Don’t overwork burger patties to prevent tough texture.
Toast buns lightly to prevent sogginess from queso drip.
Adjust jalapeño quantity based on spice preference.
Serve immediately for optimal texture contrast between hot burger and cold toppings.
Pairs excellently with crispy tortilla strips or guacamole on the side.
