Description

This Trick-or-Treat Ghost Pepper Burger combines the richness of ground beef with the intense heat of ghost peppers, creating a Halloween burger that’s perfect for those who dare to try something thrilling. Crafted for discerning home chefs seeking bold, restaurant-quality spicy burgers with gourmet flair.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)

1/2 cup ghost pepper sauce

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

4 hamburger buns (brioche recommended)

4 slices pepper jack cheese

Lettuce leaves

Tomato slices

Optional toppings: caramelized onions, jalapeños, ghost pepper salsa verde

Instructions

1. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (around 400°F).

2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef with minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently without overworking the meat.

3. Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties, making them slightly larger than your buns (they’ll shrink during cooking).

4. Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bulging during cooking.

5. Brush each patty with ghost pepper sauce on both sides.

6. Place patties on the preheated grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on the first side without moving them.

7. Flip the burgers and immediately top each with a slice of pepper jack cheese. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F for medium doneness.

8. While burgers finish cooking, toast the buns on the grill cut-side down for 1-2 minutes until golden.

9. Assemble burgers: place lettuce on bottom bun, add the cooked patty with melted cheese, top with tomato slices and additional ghost pepper sauce if desired.

10. Add optional toppings like caramelized onions or jalapeños for extra heat.

11. Serve immediately with Halloween-themed sides like sweet potato fries.

Notes

HEAT LEVEL WARNING: Ghost peppers are extremely hot (over 1 million Scoville units). Start with less sauce if you’re heat-sensitive and add more to taste.

COOKING TIP: Don’t press down on the burgers while cooking – this releases juices and makes them dry.

CHEESE MELTING: Close the grill lid or cover with a dome for 30 seconds after adding cheese for perfect melting.

MAKE IT MILDER: Substitute ghost pepper sauce with jalapeño or chipotle sauce for less heat.

STORAGE: Prepare patties up to 24 hours in advance and store covered in refrigerator.
