Description

A mouth-watering gourmet sandwich loaded with crispy thick-cut smoked bacon, melted cheddar and mozzarella cheese, fresh vegetables, all stuffed in crusty sourdough bread. Perfect for casual gatherings, parties, or a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Thick-cut, smoked bacon

Cheddar cheese, shredded

Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Sourdough bread (1 large sub roll)

Mayonnaise

Fresh lettuce leaves

Tomato, sliced

Onions, sliced

Pickles

Jalapeños (optional, for spice)

Instructions

1. Cook the bacon until crispy, then chop into small pieces and set aside

2. Mix the chopped bacon with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese in a bowl

3. Slice the sourdough bread lengthwise and spread mayonnaise on both sides

4. Add the bacon and cheese filling generously on top of the mayonnaise

5. Sprinkle additional cheese on top for extra richness

6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)

7. Place the assembled sub on a baking sheet

8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is fully melted and bread is golden and toasted

9. Add fresh lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and jalapeños if desired

10. Serve immediately while hot and cheese is still melty

Notes

For best results, use thick-cut, smoked bacon for maximum flavor

Sourdough bread works best due to its density and tangy flavor

Watch carefully during baking to prevent over-toasting

Can be assembled ahead of time and stored in refrigerator or freezer

Great for meal prep – wrap in foil for easy reheating
